Pizza Business Owner Turns Santa's Helper for Holidays

Cliff Montano Cliff Montano believes strongly that a person should give as much of himself to help another as possible.

The owner of Brick Oven Pizza in Windsor, Colorado doesn't just believe those words, he lives them. He supports one good cause after another throughout the year.

But it might be during the holiday season that Montano does his best work.

The enthusiastic 44-year-old not only runs his seven-day-a-week pizza business but also oversees a Christmas tree/clothing and food donation enterprise that benefits the Windsor Food Pantry.

Montano, who has worked his tree/clothing/food charity effort out of his store during the past 10 years, moved it this year to the vacant lot just south of Guadalajara Restaurant.

On that site, Montano sells trees such as Douglas firs, white pines and balsams. He keeps just enough to pay his expenses and donates a percentage to the Food Pantry along with the food and clothes he collects.

And he collects a lot of those.

"I've given 260 coats to the church in the last three weeks," Montano said. "I've also taken over 50 boxes of food to the food pantry."

When asked how successful his holiday charity business is, Montano smiles.

"It's been very good," he said. "The people of Windsor have been great."

As if to prove his point, a customer came up to Montano and handed him two $20 bills.

"I just wanted to make a donation because I believe you do a great job," the man said before he turned and left.

"Did you see that?" Montano asked. "That's what I'm talking about. People in Windsor are great."
